An exemplary or exceptional mother, especially one who successfully manages a home and brings up children while also having a full time job.

In today’s day and age, every mother is expected to be a super mom. The amount of titles she holds are numerous.  And she is expected to succeed at all of these things.  She is a wife.  She is a mother.  She is a negotiator.  She is a nurse. She is a cook. She is a  budget saving shopper.  She is a banker.  She is a  bookkeeper. She is a  photographer.  She is a  barber.  She is a beautician.  She is a psychologist.  She is a cheerleader.  She is an appointment scheduler.  She is a taxi driver.  She is a counselor. She is a seamstress. She is a best friend.  She is a shoulder to cry on. The list is endless.  Between the million titles that she holds, she also works 40 plus hours a week to support her family.

She doesn’t live for herself.  She can’t even imagine that.  Those thoughts do not come to her head.  She is in constant go mode. She wakes up early and prepares her family for the day.   She drives them all to school.  She heads to work with sleepy eyes and hair that needed to be colored three weeks ago. She pays bills along the way.  She drinks her coffee and notices her chipped nail polish.

She has little energy left at the end of the work day.  She stops at the grocery store and makes sure that everyone has the food they like.  She uses the points she has earned at the grocery store for a discount at the gas pump.  She hurries home and makes a dinner that she hopes everyone will like.  She spends time at the dinner table finding out how every ones day went.  She makes sure homework is complete.  She cleans the kitchen.  She loads the dishes into the dishwasher.  She makes sure the pets have food and water.  She makes sure the kids are bathed and starts a load of laundry.   She makes dessert for the kids and folds the clothes left in the dryer from the day before.  She makes sure the kids brush their teeth.  She goes through the ritual of bedtime and smiles and tickles and hugs longer than she has the energy for.  But she knows this time is precious and this time is a gift.  She takes a breath and sits on the sofa to catch up on her favorite show, but remembers all of the things that need to get finished so she is back up and getting things done.  She finally gets into bed a few hours late.

She wakes up early and prepares her family for the day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Super Mom’s in the world.  ❤
